Ladyjackets top Oakwood at home
The Coolidge Ladyjackets basketball team notched a 29-21 ROAD win over Oakwood Monday, Dec. 30. The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 17, but was postponed due to Oakwood advancing to the UIL’s sixman football playoff championship round. Coolidge senior Lakendra Hatton posted 10 points and three rebounds for the Ladyjackets. Haylie Brooks and Holly Allcorn each collected four steals apiece in the victory. With two straight district wins, Coolidge now owns a 3-1 record in District 24-1A in Division III.
Coolidge beats Oakwood, moves to 2-0 in district
The Coolidge boys basketball team moved to 2-0 in District 24-1A, Division 3 by virtue of a 61-53 road win over Oakwood on Monday, Dec. 30. The game was originally scheduled for Dec. 17, but was postponed due to Oakwood advancing to the UIL’s six-man football playoff championship round. Coolidge plans to travel to Slocum for its next contest Friday at 7 p.m. Pictured, Jacoby Brown (2) jumps it up at center court for Coolidge to start Monday’s game.
Mildred beats Wortham 56-12
The Wortham Lady Bulldogs were beaten at home by Mildred 56-12 on Tuesday, Dec. 31. Wortham’s Jayla Randle had a team-high five points and Haylee Shivers (pictured) contributed with four points for the Lady Bulldogs. The loss drops Wortham to 1-2 in District 18-2A, Division 3. The Lady Bulldogs continued district play Friday night in Kerens. Results will be available in the next edition.
