The Mexia football team is firmly in control of its destiny as it prepares for its final home game of the season against Bullard on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.
The Wortham volleyball team finished second in District 14-2A after being swept by Bremond on Thursday night at Wortham. Set scores were 25-14, 25-19, 25-10.
Wortham running back Tanner Bean had another stellar game, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Bulldogs from losing to Bremond, 64-30, in a District 10-2A, Division II contest at Wortham on Wednesday night. The loss dropped Wortham to 3-4 overall and 1-2 in district. Bremond improved to 5-2 overall and 2-0 in district.
While the team remained semi-competitive in the early stages, the Fairfield Eagles’ efforts were for naught Tuesday night, dropping a 55-0 district contest to the Malakoff Tigers.
Groesbeck put on a show on both sides of the ball as they walloped Kemp, 53-7, at Kemp on Tuesday night.
