The visiting Mexia Blackcats (1-3) competed until their final offensive drive Friday night, but eventually came up short to the Teague Lions (3-1) by a final score of 28-20 It was a tightly contested first quarter with neither defense willing to give up much ground. With 5:09 remaining in the period, Mexia quarterback Braden Wilson connected downfield with Jatayveus Bluitt for the first score of the game. Teague was called for pass interference as there was heavy contact on the play, but the penalty was declined. The subsequent two-point conversion failed and Mexia was up 6-0.
