Frances Marie Shamblin

Mrs. Frances Marie Shamblin, 89, of Coppell, formerly of Mexia, passed away, Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2022. Frances was born Aug. 15, 1933, in Mexia to Cecil J. and Myrtie Mae Page Black. She grew up and attended schools in Mexia. She worked at the Cotton Mill and Varo in Mexia in her younger days and later worked as an x-ray technician for the Mexia State School. Frances married Jack Shamblin on Oct. 22, 1948, and they spent many happy years together prior to his death in 2001. Frances was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Mexia until she moved to Cleburne to be near her sister, Helen. At the time of her death, she was a member of the North Cleburne Baptist Church, which she continued to support.

Billy McMenamy, 87, of Anson, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at First Baptist Church of Anson.

A funeral to celebrate Waydell Reynolds’ life will be at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Donie on Saturday, Oct. 8. There will be a visitation prior to the funeral at the church, beginning at 8:30 a.m. A graveside service at Oakes Cemetery will follow the funeral. Mr. Reynolds passed away on Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at St. Anthony’s Care Center in Woodway. He was 82. Waydell was born on Nov. 24, 1939, to S.K. and Renna Reynolds near Thornton. He was born in the neighbor’s house on the hill across the road. He grew up at the homeplace with his parents, grandfather, Uncle D.T. and brother David … five men and his mother, Renna. S.K. was a farmer and rancher and the boys grew up working the farm, milking the cow, hauling water from the spring, picking and unloading watermelons, and lots more. He graduated salutatorian in 1958 from Thornton High School. He played six-man football as a Thornton Tiger and with the help of his teammates was known for his speed and touchdowns.
