Anthony Duane Pruitt

Anthony Duane Pruitt, also known to many as “Muffin,” passed away peacefully surrounded by family at his residence at Lake Mexia on June 17, 2023. A visitation and celebration of Anthony’s life will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 21, at Jones Funeral Services. Afterwards, at his request, he will be cremated.

Anthony was born on March 31, 1969, in Groves to Robert and Patricia Melton Pruitt. After graduation from high school, he went on to get his certification as a mechanic, where he used that knowledge and talent working for Kelvin’s Automotive for 11 years, and had been most recently employed with Al’s Auto in Mexia. He was a mechanical wizard and could just walk by a car and by sound tell you what was wrong with it.

Anthony was a “collector of collections” and was an avid arrowhead collector and enjoyed rock tumbling, making beautiful works of art. He loved animals, especially the many cats that he would rescue and bring home. But most of all, he was a loving husband, father and grandfather with a beautiful soul.

Anthony was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Patricia. Survivors include his wife, Diana of Lake Mexia; children, Anthony Pruitt Jr, April Pruitt and husband Bradley, Dorothy Barkouskie and husband Justin; seven grandchildren, Hayden, Braxton, Kinzly, Kailani, John Clyde, Riley Jo and Easton; sisters, Buffie Scott, Darla Adams, Rhonda Pruitt; brothers, Robert Pruitt, Robby Pruitt, and Ryan Pruitt; step-siblings, Jacedric Ford and Ariana Pruitt; step-mother, Laura Pruitt; as well as numerous extended family.

Muffin’s family thanks everyone for all of the love and support over the years, especially recently. The family appreciates all of the love and kindness.
