The Mexia Garden Club met at the home of Gayle and Jack Beene for their final meeting of the season. Installations of new officers were held. From left, are Patty Manley, reporter/ photographer; Judy Speer, parliamentarian; Chuckeia Parker-Dickson, secretary; Ed Cox, treasurer; Carol Matthews, vice president; and Gayle Beene, president. Each officers was given a garden tool that represented their office. Jackie Tidwell inducted the officers. The group had a luncheon of sandwiches, salads and desserts. They then adjourned for summer. The Mexia Garden Club will meet at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 20 at Gibbs Memorial Library for the President’s Tea. They ask for interested people to join them and become a member.
This week at Mexia LTC we started with bowling on Monday morning. Residents played bingo on Monday afternoon. Residents enjoyed Bible group with Bob Kersten on Tuesday morning. Residents had their Residents’ Council meeting and enjoyed ice cream on Tuesday afternoon.
Marcus Wilson is coming back home to Mexia and will be the principal at a school where his mom once taught.
