Listen to these words given through the prophet Isaiah, words spoken by the Lord God who formed both Israel and Judah, and yet they are words that also apply unto us, that is, to the United States of America. In the light of the events of this day, and yet in remembrance and thanksgiving for all those who gave their lives and limbs defending this great nation of ours, there is both hope and yet warning, and a call to repent and return to the Lord. Isaiah spoke these words from the Lord. “Now says the Lord, Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name and you are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through the fire you shall not be burned, and the flames shall not consume you. For I am the Lord you God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.”
