William Thomas Taylor

William Thomas Taylor passed away April 20, 2020, in Mexia, at the age of 81. William was born July 13, 1938, in Albertville, Ala., to Willie Russell and Kate Ogels Taylor. He worked for 36 years as a longshoreman, prior to retiring. His wife, Esther Cranford Taylor, was from the Mexia area, so this is where they decided to retire.

William and Esther were the proud parents of three children and grandparents of a very special grandson. He loved his family and cherished his time with them. His hobbies consisted of fishing, hunting and going to garage sales and flea markets.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Kate Taylor; sisters Edna Brewer, Lucille Reno and Beatrice Taylor; and brother Earnest Taylor.

William is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Esther Taylor, of Mexia; three children, Katie Gresham and husband Rick, Travis Taylor and wife Angela, and Lisa Kay Schield; grandson Christopher Robin Chambers and fiancé Jennifer; sisters Ollie Dunn and Jessie Knight; and several nieces and nephews.

A private family graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, in the Prairie Grove Cemetery.
