Wardell Haught

Mr. Wardell Haught, 80, of Mount Calm, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, 2018, in Waco. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9, at First Baptist Church in Mount Calm with the Rev. John Lawrence officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at Wade Funeral Home in Hubbard.

Wardell was born Oct. 13, 1937, in Mount Calm to Lester and Kathleen (Wiley) Haught. He was raised in Mount Calm and was a 1956 graduate of Mount Calm High School where he was very active in sports and other school activities. Wardell had most recently resided in Mount Calm, but had previously lived in Mexia where he was the supervisor of Maintenance at the Mexia State School for more than 30 years. He was a military veteran, having served in the Air Force, and was a member of First Baptist Church of Mount Calm.

Wardell was preceded in death by his parents; brotherin-law, Livy Mills; and sonin-law, Gerry Lawson.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hamby) Haught of Mount Calm; two sons, Michael Haught and wife, Johnnie, of Houston, and Steven Glenn Haught of Mount Calm; two daughters, Donna Alford of Waco and Sheila Haught of Corsicana; sister, Wanda Haught Mills of Hubbard; six grandchildren, Shaun Haught and wife, Rosie, of Fort Stockton, Elanor Haught, Gary Lawson and wife, Carmen, of Mexia, Kristin Cossey of Hewitt, Austin Lawson and wife, Haley, of Kyle and Kelsey Outlaw and husband, Randal, of McGregor; eight great-grandchildren, Summer Haught, Nicholas Lawson, Lundyn Lawson, Landry Lawson, Elizabeth Cossey, Heath Cossey, Willow Lawson and Kylar Outlaw; three step-grandchildren, Krystal Alford, Matt Alford and Allison Lynn Kidd and several nieces and nephews and numerous other extended family members.
