W. LaVon Pierce
W. LaVon Pierce, 84, of Mexia, died Jan. 14, 2025.
He was born in Hico Mar. 12, 1940, to parents Weldon and Mildred Pierce of Mexia who built Parkside Nursing Homes, now known as The Manor, in Mexia, Groesbeck and Hubbard.
He went to the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he met his wife of 26 years, Rhonda Pierce Marley. He was sent overseas to Germany soon after they were married. W.LaVonwasanAirForce Vietnam vet having worked on B-52 bombers in both Germany and Thailand. Sons Lonnie and Dana were born in Germany. Three other children Tanya, Chandele and Scott were born after returning to the states.
W.LaVon and family lived in Nebraska near his wife’s family where he owned Pierce Appliance and TV Repairs Company. He also worked for his father-in-law’s company, Heartman Telephone Co. which was the first and only one in Nebraska at the time. He was also a Master Electrician which served him well throughout his life.
Survivors are sons, Lonnie and wife, Lori, Pierce and his son Dusti Pierce; Dana and wife, Vicki, Pierce; and Scott and wife, Brooke, Pierce and sons Levi Pierce, Jesse Pierce, and Hunter Pierce, daughters Kylie Pierce, Faith Pierce and Madison Pierce; daughters, Tanya and husband, Laren, and their daughter Chelsea Morgan and grandson, Miles and wife, Jessie, Morgan and two grandchildren; and Chandele Martinez and children, Megan and husband, Cavitt, Glover and Brent Martinzes.
As was his wishes he was cremated and his ashes will be scattered in a celebration of life ceremony in the Spring.
