Veta Ruth was born Jan. 15, 1925, in Coolidge to Blurton and Mary McReynolds.  She grew up in Coolidge, graduated from Coolidge High School and remained in Coolidge her entire life.  On July 2, 1943, in Waco, she married her loving husband, Aubrey Hancock.  Her lifelong career was dedicated to raising their children, while also working with Aubrey in his business and later loving and spoiling their grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nanny loved cooking and doing for her family on a daily basis, as well as on special occasions.  Coolidge and the people of Coolidge were all special to her; she was always willing to help with anything that would better the community.  She loved going to church on Sunday, and during the week you could find her at the Senior Citizens Center.  Nanny always looked forward to going on summer vacations with her children and grandchildren each year, she cherished her time with family.  She also enjoyed her “special” job, mowing her yard!  She was a longtime active member of the First United Methodist Church in Coolidge.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Aubrey Hancock; two brothers, Loyle and Billy McReynolds; sister, Gertrude Redding; and special nephew, Dan Redding.

Veta Ruth is survived by her two loving children, Cynthia Lowry and husband, Bill, and Mark Hancock and wife, Roxanna; seven grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, Bret Lowry and family, Bart Lowry and family, Chance Lowry and family, Dale Lowry and family, Lori Hancock Reese and family, Leslie Hancock Gill and family, Kendal Hancock Utley and family; one great-great grandchild, Rhett Lowry;  two step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren, Brian Wood and family and Karianne Wood and family; and several nieces and nephews.
