TAMARA LA’SHAWN MATHEWS

Tamara La’Shawn Mathews gained her wings on Sept. 7, 2021, when she went to be with the Lord.

A funeral service for her will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, at 1 p.m. at Westside Church of Christ in Mexia. Pastor Michael Davis will officiate and Pastor Supt. Eric J. Andrews will be the eulogist.

Tamara was born Aug. 28, 1974, to Ted and Rosia Mathews. She was the second child born to this union. Tamara grew up in Mexia, where she attended school and graduated in 1993.

She gave her life to Christ at an early age at the church she attended, Alexander Chapel PBC. She later moved her membership to New Generation Church of Dallas.

Tamara loved to help anyone who came her way. She was always willing to give a hand where it was needed. She had a big caring heart and a smile that would brighten the room. Even when she didn’t feel her best she still tried to make everyone else feel their best.

Those who will most cherish her memories are her daughters, Dantreall Carter (Jerone) and Anaya Mathews; parents Ted and Rosia Mathews; brothers Elder Chris Mathews (Kesha), Tedrick Mathews (Kenithia) and LeRoy Johnson (Tammie); sister La’Quinta Smith (Dexter); special sisters Selisha Goines, Tamiko Gamble and Sonya Eldridge; grandson Zander Hobbs; special sons Courtney Bailey, Tevin Bias and Antoine Eldridge; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
