Selma J. Hinton Mc Clure

Selma J. Hinton McClure, born Feb. 10, 1931, in Cleburne went to be with the Lord on June 29, 2019.  Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 3, in Blair-Stubbs Chapel with the Rev. Brad Brittain officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mexia Cemetery.  Jason Sumrall, Jake Cherry, Lynn Baker, Jermy Sunday, Ricky Hinton and Leroy Hinton will serve as pallbearers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Hinton; late husband, Billy McClure; mother, Hazel Bone; brother, Thurman Lee Hanks; sister, Verna Lee Courtney; and her beloved grandson, Tracy Hood.

Selma is survived by her daughter, Jodi Hancock and husband Warner Dean; son, Billy Hinton and wife Carmen; grandchildren, JohnAnna, Kelly, Scooter and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Katrina, Tori, Paige, Vanessa, Lance Tracy, Jocelynn, Kaitlynn and Ella; and multiple nieces and nephews.

Selma retired from Texas Commerce Bank, where she started as a key punch operator and, after several promotions, became an officer of the bank.  She had the entire 11th floor of the Texas Commerce Bank to use for training, as on numerous occasions she had as many as 26 people at a time.  Selma was also responsible for traveling all over the United States to set up their payroll departments.

She was a warm, caring and loving person who tried to take care of everyone she knew, always putting herself last. She was a wonderful cook with a contagious smile and a heart of gold.  Although her name was Selma, she was better known to everyone as “Nana”.
