RON WHITLEY
Ron Whitley passed away peacefully at his home with his family in Kennedale, on Jan. 27, 2021.
Ron was born in Gainesville, on March 2, 1944, to Bill and Paula Whitley. He grew up in Grand Prairie and graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1962. Upon graduation, he studied at North Texas State University and served in the Army Reserve. He then went to work for Bell Helicopter in 1966 and spent the next 43 years working in multiple positions for the company. Upon retirement, he enjoyed his grandchildren, traveling, entertaining family and friends and volunteering with the Boy Scouts, Rotary Club and many Kennedale civic or ganizations.
Ron was a loving husband and an incredibly proud father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife LuAnn Goswick Whitley and two sons, Jason Whitley and his wife, Beverly, and Ashton Whitley and his wife, Meredith. In addition, he is survived by four grandchildren, Dylan, Mae, June and Ella. And, four siblings Janet Wayne, Cathy Linney, Hal Whitley and Tim Whitley; and numerous other family. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A private graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 2, at Mexia City Cemetery, 700 E. Evelyn St. in Mexia. The family plans to hold a Celebration of Life event later this year.
