RICKY THOMAS RAY

Ricky Thomas Ray, formerly of Mexia, entered his heavenly home on March 22, 2021, at the age of 62. Funeral services were held Thursday, March 25, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home, with Brother Joe Wilson officiating. Interment followed in the Mexia Cemetery. Jordan Zreineh, Joel Zreineh, Kevin Nall, Jason Ray, Oscar Guitterez, and Michael Shannon McCain will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 11 a.m.

Ricky was born Oct. 23, 1958, in Mexia to Bruce Edward and Zella Mae (Rainer) Ray. He grew up and lived in Mexia for several years, prior to moving to Houston with his family.

While Ricky loved everyone, he had a very special love and relationship with Jesus. He had a big heart, always happy and very outgoing. He enjoyed music, watching TV, and just sitting on the porch swing watching and waving to neighbors and others as they passed by. He was also very interested in the weather forecast; he liked to share that information with everyone and was fascinated with announcing a norther was coming, whether it was or not. Ricky and his family possessed a very special love and bond; he was cherished, and he knew it. Although he will truly be missed, his family is at peace knowing he has finally met “his” Jesus and been reunited with his parents and others that have gone before him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Bruce and Zella Ray.

Ricky is survived by his siblings, Carolyn Zreineh, Kathy Nall and husband Jack, Louis Ray and wife Becky, all of Houston, Leslie Ray and Angela Tweedle and husband, Danny of Mexia; like a sister, Sandy Barker of Mexia; uncle, J. C. Ray of Canton; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
