RICHARD DALE DOUTHIT

Richard Dale Douthit, 67, of Mexia, passed away July 27, 2022, at Parkview Regional Hospital. A visitation for Douthit will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, July 30, at Jones Funeral Services. After the visitation, at his request, Douthit will be cremated.

Richard was born Nov. 30, 1954, in Salem, Ohio, to Morgan and Eleanor Webster Douthit. He had been in Mexia since he was 7 years old and graduated from Mexia High School. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Navy, from 1974 to 1978, where he was a boiler tech. He then went on to graduate top of his class from Lincoln Technical College in Mechanics. He spent his career as a mechanic, including a time with Mexia ISD.

Richard enjoyed camping and watching the History Channel and HGTV. But his biggest love was the affection he had for his grandchildren. They were the light and loves of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Morgan and Eleanor Douthit; son, Tommy Sides and aunt, Agnes Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Janice Douthit, of Mexia; daughters, Serina Kuykendall and husband, Tracy, of Mexia, and Samantha Sides, of Fairfield; son, Tillman Moore and wife, Tammy, of Mt. Calm; sister, Susan Martin, of Mexia; brothers, David Douthit, of Dallas and John Douthit, of Seven Points; grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Jason Bailey, Savanah Gideon, J. Rene Janes, Jessica Rodriguez, Jordin McPheeters, Jonathan Cotton, Christian Stuart, Juelia Moore and Stacy Moore; boo-coos of great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family; his closest, most devoted friend, David Simmons; and all of his adopted kids and grandkids, whom he considered as his own. Richard was very loved by all that knew him.
