NETTIE FLORENCE GAMBLE JONES

Nettie Florence Gamble Jones, 93, of Tyler, formally of Mexia, passed away Friday, April 15, 2022 in Tyler. Florence was born January 10, 1929 to Mose and Nettie Gamble. She grew up in the Mexia area and graduated from Mexia High School. Florence married Roy (Sonny) Jones on July 15, 1950 and they spent many happy years together prior to his death on May 3, 2018. They were blessed with two children, Kathy and Kenny.

During her working career, Florence was a secretary at the Mexia High School. She excelled in her job, attaining trust and admiration from all who worked with her and, especially, the students whom she thoroughly enjoyed being around. Her caring traits were further exemplified by working as a volunteer for hospice for many years and cooking and feeding her family and friends. In her free time, Florence loved to work in her yard, play golf, and spoil her schnauzers.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Sonny; and her daughter, Kathy.

Florence is survived by her son and daughter in law, Kenny and Marsha Jones; grandchildren, Jason Jones and wife, Sara, Jon Jones and wife, Paige, Josh Jones and wife, Lauren and Jacob Jones and wife, Monica; great grandchildren, Belle, Mason, Maggye, Andrew, Evan and one more on the way. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home chapel with Marcus Sheffield officiating. Burial will follow in the Mexia Cemetery with Mike Gamble, James Richardson, Jason Jones, Jon Jones, Josh Jones and Jacob Jones acting as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service time.
