Marilyn Clo Gray McIntire

Marilyn Clo Gray McIntire, 85, passed from this life on Jan. 31, 2023, in Mexia. A memorial service will be held at Jones Funeral Services of Mexia at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11.

Marilyn was born on June 13, 1937, to Mildred Fay and R.B. Gray. She grew up in Levelland, where she graduated from Levelland High School. Marilyn started working at Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock as an administrative assistant, where she met the love of her life, Daniel Albert McIntire. She often told their daughter that God always intended them to meet, or Dan would never have found his way to Texas from New Hampshire. They were married on Jan. 17, 1959, and celebrated 62 years of marriage before his passing in 2021. Dan and Marilyn enjoyed working at their church in many capacities and traveling in their motorhome. Marilyn studied business at South Plains College and worked there before leaving as an accounting and office manager for Proctor and Gamble and then as an office manager for ADM, all in Levelland.

Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Carolyn, and son-in-law Terry Arnold of Mexia; grandsons, T.J. (Brittiany) Arnold of Plano and Shane Arnold of Mexia; great-grandsons, Braden Arnold (Lauren) of Fort Worth, and Gavin Tomchuk of Denton; granddaughter, Chrissie Clayton of Denton; great-granddaughter, Salem Arnold of Plano; sisters, Patricia Wilson of Seminole and Debbie LeVick of Mineola; brother, Gary Gray of Ropesville; and a whole slew of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She also leaves behind exceptional caregivers, Rose Cornish, Dura Nevels and LaDonna Greeley.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband, Dan; her parents; brothers, Royce and Bud Gray; and sisters, Ruth Holland and Carolyn Gray.

Marilyn’s family would like to thank the staff at Skilled Care of Mexia for the excellent care and the love they gave Marilyn during the last years of her life.

Instead of flowers, the family requests you donate to your favorite charity or church in Marilyn’s name.
