Kimberlyl Fisher Roberts

Kimberly Fisher Roberts passed away on Feb. 9, 2023, in an automobile accident. She left

us way too soon. Family and friends celebrated Kimberly’s life by gathering at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2023, for a visitation at First Baptist Church in Mexia, followed by a service at 2 p.m. Interment followed at Mexia Cemetery.

Kimberly was born on Aug. 20, 1985, at Mexia Hospital to Marcus and Phyllis Fisher. Kimberly had such joy for life. She loved family, friends, animals and the New York Yankees. Kimberly loved taking trips to the river and the lake with her husband and watching her kids play sports. She loved her mother with everything in her. She followed the careers of her favorite players, Pudge Rodriquez (hence the #7), Derek Jeter and Aaron Judge faithfully, seeing Judge play last year against the Rangers. Her “kids” were the furry canine kind; Parker, Wrigley, Shae, Nocona, Bella, Bently and Jeter. She liked nothing better than to curl up with them on the couch to watch a game. And they loved her!

Kimberly was a natural athlete and excelled at any sport she took on, whether cheerleading or volleyball. But her first love was softball. Playing as a Mexia Blackcat and on several travel teams growing up, she made a name for herself in the sport with her keen catcher’s eye, speed and power as a hitter, and her love for her teammates. While at Navarro College, wearing the number seven jersey, she hit the walk-off home run that took the Bulldogs to the national championship in 2005. She later turned the love of the sport into her life’s calling, teaching and coaching teams across Central Texas. She touched many lives then and since, and she will be missed. While we are left to grieve our loss, we are assured that, as one tribute to her noted, “#7, you are safe at home”.

Kimberly was welcomed into Heaven by those who have gone on before; grandfathers Clifford Dailey, Jimmy Fisher and Eudel Beard; grandmother, Jessie Ruth Daily Beard (Nanny); great grandparents Clifford and Helen Dailey, Ruth Ward and Jess Bozeman, Bill and Dorothy Fisher, and Rip and Johnnie McKenzie; and cousin Brooke Jones.

Those left behind will cherish her memory forever; her parents, Marcus and Phyllis Fisher of Mexia; brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Joni Fisher; niece Braelyn, and nephews Bryson, Brynden and Brytton of Robinson; husband, Brandon Roberts and children Braxon, Brazen and Brynna Roberts of Aquilla; grandmother Pat Fisher; aunt Julie Jones; and cousin April and husband Josh Morgan of San Antonio; uncle Steve Dailey and wife Donna; cousins Christopher and wife Ellen and Jess Dailey of Midland; and many extended family members, friends, colleagues and students.

Pallbearers include Kevin Morton, Rick Sanders, Jason Morton, Leven Barker, Mike Reed, Jimmy Wade, Eric Clarke, Drake Britton, Caleb Hunt and David Valero. Honorary pallbearers are her kids Braxon and Brazen Roberts and nephews Bryson, Brynden and Brytton Fisher.
