Kenneth Bailey ‘Hud’ Hudnall

Kenneth Bailey “Hud” Hudnall, 79, passed away Aug. 5, 2018, at his home in Mexia. Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, in the Lost Prairie Cemetery with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating.

Kenneth was born Aug. 30, 1938, in Thornton to Pete and Lillie Daugherty Hudnall. He was a self-employed painter and carpenter for many years; he also was an employee of Mexia ISD and Centex ARC.

Kenneth married the love of his life, Nell Richards, on Jan. 1, 1958. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His family was his life, whatever his children or grandchildren were involved in, he was always there to support them. He enjoyed playing softball, as well as, teaching and coaching his son, daughter and others. Kenneth was also an avid golfer and loved to fish.

Kenneth had an outgoing personality, greeted everyone with a smile and never met a stranger. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Mexia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles Eugene “Gene” Hudnall; and sister, Rita Roberts.

Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Nell Hudnall of Mexia; daughter, Janet Smith and husband, Jimmy “Smitty” of Mexia; son, Simon Hudnall and wife Jan of Palestine; a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
