JOEL BENNETT EVANS

Funeral services for Joel Evans will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 10 a.m. at First Assembly of God in Teague. Bro. Spain Trask will officiate. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 11, with the family present, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Bowers Funeral Home in Teague.

Mr. Evans passed away on Monday, June 7, 2021, at UT Health Center in Tyler.

Joel Bennett Evans was born on Jan. 5, 1959, in Elyria, Ohio, to parents Robert and Barbara Capp Evans. He moved to Teague in 1969 and graduated from Teague High School with the class of 1978. Mr. Evans worked as a pipeliner, taking him all over the United States. He loved to talk about working with his father overseas. He married Olga on June 5, 1997, and they shared over twenty-four years of marriage together. Joel enjoyed traveling and loved to snow ski. He was a loving father and husband. He also was a member of First Assembly of God.

He is survived by his wife, Olga Evans, of Point Enterprise; one stepson, John Clifton; one stepdaughter, Elizabeth Poehler; daughter Marissa Evans; four grandchildren, Annaliese Poehler, Kayden Kutter, J.D. Clifton, Nataliya Clifton; his mother, Barbara Evans of Teague; his brother, Mike Evans & wife Deborah of Groesbeck; his sister, Liza Hagler and husband Todd; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his father, Robert Lamar Evans Jr.; his paternal grandparents, Robert Lamar Sr. and June Evans; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Helen Capp.
