Jo Ann Carine

Jo Ann Carine, formerly of Rocky Branch (near Wortham), passed away in Leakesville, Miss., on June 25, 2019, at the age of 70.  A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 29, in the Wortham Cemetery with the Rev. Chris Rowe officiating.

Jo Ann was born Dec. 21, 1948, in Dayton, Ohio, to Edward Delone and Margaret Louise Whitridge Ingersoll.  She was a resident of Freestone County for many years.  Jo Ann retired from the Mexia State School after a number of years as a QMRP.  However, soon after retiring, she accepted a position teaching reading at Fairfield Intermediate School.

Jo Ann had an outgoing personality, was very creative and extremely passionate about music and dancing.  She opened her first dance studio in Oakwood, Ohio, and, after moving to Wortham, she opened a studio in her home.  She and her daughters enjoyed attending numerous musicals and plays together. Jo Ann also enjoyed photography and painting. Although she had many outside interests, there was nothing she loved more than being a mother and grandmother; family was always first.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Margaret Ingersoll; and husband, William Carine.

Jo Ann is survived by her daughters, Marcey Dunnahoe and husband Tadd of Kirvin, and Tracey Villanueva and husband Jose of Waco; grandchildren, Dalton Dunnahoe, Isabella Villanueva, Tyler Dunnahoe and Rebecca Villanueva; four step-children; and several step-grandchildren.
