JEFFERY GIPSON

Jeffery Gipson, 44, left this earthly plane on July 4, 2021, and entered the eternal kingdom. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday July 10, at the Mexia High School Football Stadium, 1000 N. Bailey St. (Blackcat Drive) Mexia.

Jeff was born in Corsicana on Sept. 1, 1976. He started working at HEB when he was in high school. Jeff Gipson was a four-year basketball starter at Mexia High School. He then played at Tyler Junior College and received an Associate’s Degree in Computer Science. As a freshman TJC won the Conference Tournament and Regional Tournament at Baylor University and made it all the way to the Junior College National Tournament in Hutchison Kan. That next year as sophomores they were rewarded the No. 1 ranked Junior College team in the country. Tyler made it to the Conference/Regional Tournament but didn’t reach the National Tournament. He then played at Baylor and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Jeff became a loan officer at First National Bank of Mexia (Incommons Bank) upon graduation. He was currently an assistant vice president for Woodforest National Bank and worked at the Mexia location. Jeff was an active member of Mustang Baptist Church, where he was a junior usher and transitioned into one of the musicians. He was passionate about his family and friends. He was involved locally in the Economic Development Corporation and Habitat for Humanity. He brought so much joy to our community.

Jeff never met a stranger and always tried to help so many people. He was a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, uncle and grandfather (Papi). Jeff had a strong passion for farming and raising horses and cattle. He enjoyed working with his equipment, anything outdoors was what he loved the most. Jeff was hard working from sunrise to sunset, most days without any breaks. He believed in putting his whole self into anything that he did. He would not settle for mediocrity in life, family or work.

Jeff was preceded in death by his grandparents Dwain and Jewel Jones, and Andrew and Elvira Gipson; sister, Shelia Gipson; father-in-laws, Edward Anderson and Raymond “Rocky” Gonzales; and nephew, Jamon Harris.

He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Misty Gipson; parents, Chester and Rosie Gipson; mother-in-law, Gloria Anderson; children, Jaylen, Jada and Jazlyn Gipson; grandchildren, Jayce and Jordan; brother, Gary (Joyce) Gipson; brother-in-laws, Darrell Perez, Eric Anderson, Johnny (Jessica), Rocky, Michael (Iris) and Justin Gonzales; sister-in-laws, Celeste Perez, Jennifer (James) Harris and Samantha Gonzales; Nieces, Kendall and Katilyn Gipson, Simone Clayton, Erica Anderson, Taliyah Vincent, Voncile (Bron) Chapman, Jackie and Chelsea Collins; nephews, Eric (Erika) Anderson and Byron Harper; and a host of family and friends.
