Jeffery ‘Jeff’ Lynn Adams

Jeffery “Jeff” Lynn Adams, of Thornton, passed away Dec. 26, 2022, in Waco at the age of 68. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 31, 2022, at Central Baptist Church in Thornton with Brother Ben Watson and Brother Tracy Sims officiating.

Visitation with the family was from 11 a.m. to noon. Interment followed in the Adams Cemetery in Thornton. Steve Sharp, Clayton McDade, Richard Jordan, Jay Hyde, Michael Adams and Butch Newhouse served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Ronnie Driskell, Jerry Tilley, Richard Duncan and Richard Ponce.

Jeff was born on April 28, 1954, in Marlin, to J.C. and Mary (McDade) Adams. After graduating high school, he attended Sam Houston State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Physical Education and then received his Master of Education at Stephen F. Austin. His teaching and coaching career spanned a total of 40 years, 38 of those years were spent with Groesbeck ISD.

Jeff was very strong in his faith. God, family and country was the order in which he prioritized his life. He loved his children, but nothing could compare to his love for his grandchildren. Spending time with them was the highlight of his life. Jeff was a humble man with a very big heart. Helping people and or stray animals gave him great pleasure; this was just who he was. He gave selflessly. He was an active member of Victory Baptist Church.

Jeff loved country living, being a rancher and traveling whenever possible. He enjoyed working his cows, baling hay and everything involved in ranching. He was like a “Jack of all Trades.” He could fix almost anything. Exercising and maintaining good physical condition was also important to Jeff.

Jeff will be remembered not only by his family and friends but the many students he impacted throughout his teaching and coaching career.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Mary Adams; and grandson, Austin Hyde.

Jeff is survived by his children, Jessica Lynn Adams Hyde of Waco, Justin Lynn Adams and wife Courtney of Mexia, and Julie Kinter and husband Gyorgy of Dallas; grandchildren, Jeffery Ashton Hyde, Skylar Lux Kinter, Willoughby River Ferenc Kinter, Rylie Jean Adams and Harper Lynn Adams; brother, Mike Adams and wife Allison of Thornton; niece, Amanda Holder and husband Donald; and nephew, Michael Adams.
