JANELLE HENSON

Graveside services for Janelle Henson were held on Monday, June 8, at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery in Teague. Bro. Roy Prather officiated.

There was no visitation at the funeral home.

Mrs. Henson passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at Skilled Care of Mexia nursing home.

She was born in Limestone County in the Horn Hill community on Jan. 9, 1932. She attended elementary school at Forest Glade and graduated from Mexia High School with the class of 1949. Janelle married Ross Henson on Sept. 29, 1950, and shared over 54 years of marriage together before being separated by his death on Dec. 28, 2004.

Mrs. Henson worked as a teacher’s aide and later as a secretary for Teague ISD from 1969 to 1987, when she retired. She enjoyed playing dominoes and loved to travel, including international trips to London and Paris. Mrs. Henson also enjoyed numerous camping and fishing trips with her family. She was a member of Eighth Avenue Baptist Church in Teague for 67 years.

She is survived by two sons, David Henson and wife Deborah, of Rowlett, and Kelly Henson and wife Caye, of Teague; four grandchildren, Leah Johnson and husband Justin, of Carrollton, Jessica Castillo and husband Aaron, of Austin, Jessica Risken and husband Hunter, of Donie, and Drew Henson, of Teague; seven great-grandchildren, Korree Risken, Jayden Yorgensen, Collin Johnson, Nehemiah Castillo, Creed Risken, Lennox Risken and Mirabell Castillo; one brother, J. W. Cline and wife Dana, of Jasper, Ga.; three brothers-in-law, Robert Henson and wife Lucy, Charles Henson and wife Cathy, and Gary Henson; two sisters-in-law, Peggy Cline, and Linda Fick and husband Don; and other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Henson was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Henson; one son, Richard Earnest (Dick) Henson; her mother, Georgia Mae Cline; her father, Earnest Eli Cline; and one brother, Glendon Cline.
