JAMES WILLIAM ‘J.W.’ KILLINGSWORTH

James William “J.W.” Killingsworth, of Mexia, passed away February 3, 2021 in Arlington, Texas at the age of 76. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021 at the Christ Gospel Fellowship Church with Pastor Stephen Dubois officiating. Interment will follow in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Ski Hicks, Steve Hicks, Sammy Jones, Mark Vaughn, Devon Sikes, Elvin Sikes, James Mandrell and James Hargrove will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m., Sunday at Blair-Stubbs Chapel.

J.W. was born September 2, 1944 in Mexia, Texas to Dennis and Annie (Just) Killingsworth. He worked for Hinton & Neighbors in the Oil Fields for 32 years and then worked for Mrs. Bairds Bread Company on a delivery route for 8 years. After retirement, he enjoyed working his cows and doing volunteer work. He was a farm boy at heart and loved his cows, dogs, and cats.

J.W. loved his wife Joan with all his heart. They were married for almost 29 years and he would always help her with anything she needed. J.W. was a man that enjoyed helping other people, his family, and friends. Going to church and reading his Bible every morning and evening were precious times for him. He was a true Christian and most importantly, he loved the Lord.

J.W. was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters, Salley Johnson and Judy Hicks.

J.W. is survived by his wife, Joan Killingsworth of Mexia; sister, Dorothy Jones of Mexia; nieces, Laquitta Jones of Mexia, Anita Patterson of Teague, Savannah Padgett of Mexia, Melody Allen of Wortham; nephews, Ski Hicks and wife, Annette of Corsicana, Stanley Hicks of Abilene, Steve and Barbara Hicks of Groesbeck, William and Mary Hicks of Eureka, Jason Hicks of Mexia and Mike Teer of Corsicana.
