JACK ROBERT CRAIG

Mr. Jack Robert Craig was born March 22, 1940, in Marquez, to the late Algie and Cora Lee Craig.

Jack was preceded in death by seven siblings. He is survived by one sister, Traulanette Collins of Mexia and one brother, Tommie Craig (Debra) of Houston.

Jack attended Dunbar High School in Mexia and graduated in 1961. During his high school years, he played football in the positiion of defensive tackie for the Dunbar Dragons. Jack was a sports enthusiast and an avid fan of football and baseball. He coached the game of baseball with passion and gave his blood, sweat and tears; he gave it his all.

On March 21, 2022, Jack Robert Craig heard, answered and peacefully submitted to the Lord at Parkview Regional Hospital amongst his loving Family. He will be greeted in Heaven by his parents; one daughter, four sisters and three brothers.

To cherish his memories, he leaves his loving and devoted wife, Mrs. Barbara Ann Craig, of whom he met and married Nov. 29, 1963. They were married 58 blissful and beautiful years. To their union, four daughters were born: Jacqueline Venise Gabrielle (who preceded him in death), Kathy Dawkins (Tommie Charles) of Mexia, Batrinia Gillespie (Lloyd) of Frisco, and Latasha Craig (Tremain) of Mexia. Jack had nine grand-children and eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends, all of which he loved. Jack also had two special nieces, Benita Bennett who was just Iike a daughter to him, and Kira Walker, Jack’s legacy at Antioch Baptist Church began when he was a child. During his spiritual walk with Christ, Jack was the chairman of the Deacon Board for 20-plus years, an usher for several years and without hesitation Jack eagerly attended to the church where needed.

Jack was a servant leader as the Housekeeping supervisor for 43 years to his staff at Parkview Regional Hospital. Jack was admired by patients and oftentimes prayed with them. His dedication and tenure was recognized and a monument stands outside of the hospital in his name to honor his service.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to The Community Healthcare Texas Team and a special thank you to Judy Washington and Michelle Dawkins.

Viewing will be held Friday, April 1, from 1 to 6 p.m. in the Northcrest Church Of Christ, 918 Tehuacana Drive, Mexia.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. in the Northcrest Church Of Christ with interment in the Mexia Cemetery, North Denton Street, Mexia.
