Harvey Earl Allen

Harvey Earl Allen, 86, passed away March 13, 2019, in Mexia. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at Blair-Stubbs Chapel, with the Rev. Michael Vestal officiating. Interment will follow in the Prairie Grove Cemetery. Jerry Allen, Harvey Cox, David Cox, Chance Cox, Charles Little and Thomas Hallford will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Don Fleming, Scott Doles, David Archibald, Warren Carter and The Men of Temple Baptist Church.

Visitation with the family was held Friday evening at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Harvey was born Jan. 23, 1933, in Tehuacana, to Edney Reed and Eula Archibald Allen. He married Maudene Cox on June 25, 1955 in Mexia. Prior to retirement, he was a longtime rancher and heavy equipment operator.

Harvey enjoyed country living and being outdoors. He especially loved hunting and fishing with his brother, Raymond, and cousin, Robert Archibald. He also enjoyed fellowship time with his church family at Temple Baptist Church, where he was an active member for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Helen Vickery; and brothers, William, Marvin, Raymond and Joe Allen.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 63 years, Maudene, of Mexia; brother, Charles Allen and wife, Dorothy, of Mexia; cousin and caregiver, Billy Archibald, of Mexia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
