Gregory ‘Greg’ Martin Gann
Gregory “Greg” Martin Gann, 66, entered his heavenly home to be with his Lord and Savior on Nov. 1, 2022. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, 2022, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Dick Druary officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Stan Baggett, Byron Copeland, Frank Robinson, Bruce Fain, Mark Haney, Butch Newhouse, Steve Trantham and Ricky Sanders Gann was born Oct. 11, 1956, in Pampa, to Marshall Albert and Bobbie Louise (Ayers) Gann. He retired from NRG Power Plant in Jewett, after 34 years of service, as a Safety Manager. He married the love of his life, Linda Carol Phillips on Jan. 12, 1996, in Mexia. Gann was a true Christian, he put God first, then family and others. He was a very selfless man, always willing to help anyone in need. He was a dedicated prayer warrior and when praying for individuals, no matter how long it took, he was going to call each one by name. He loved his family and there was never any question or doubt, they knew if they needed him, he would be there for them. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially, when his son, Justin and his family could be there with them; living out of the country, he didn’t get to see them often enough.
He loved music. He enjoyed playing blues music on his harmonica. Justin’s love for music was, evidently, passed on from his dad. Gann was very patriotic and very proud to be an American; he loved the USA. Something else that was very special to him was his faithful companion, Baylor, who has been in training to become a therapy dog.
Gann was a longtime active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Mexia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Bobbie (Ayers) Gann; and brothers, Mike, Gary and Bill Gann.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Linda Gann of Mexia; children, Justin Gann and wife, Kendall of Hungary, Misty Barrientez and husband, Pete of Palestine, Tara Waggener of Wortham and Brittney Wood of Wortham; grandchildren, Logan, Teigny, Dillyn, Mason, Addison, Hunter, Breckyn and Britton; brother, James Allen Gann; a number of nieces and nephews; and Baylor.
