Esther Bell Taylor

Esther Bell Taylor, 82, passed away on Jan. 7 in Mexia. Her services will be held Thursday, Jan. 11, at 2 p.m. at Blair Stubbs Funeral Home with the Rev, Shane Norcross officiating. Visitation starts at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Prairie Grove Cemetery after the funeral.

Esther was born Sept. 23, 1941, in Mexia to Fred and Mildred Cranford. She graduated from Charles H. Milby High School in Houston. She married William Taylor and raised three children, Katie, Travis and Lisa. They returned to the Mexia area following her husband’s retirement. She was a homemaker. She and William were married 61 years until his death in 2020.

Esther enjoyed reading, socializing, bowling, and going to the casino. She enjoyed being with her family. She was a good cook and a simple lady.

Esther is preceded in death by her parents, husband and son-in law, Joe Shields.

Esther is survived by her daughter Katie Gresham and husband Rick; son Travis Taylor and wife Angela and daughter Lisa Kay Schield; grandchildren Christopher Robin Chambers and wife Jennifer; Charles Grisham, Nicole Grisham, Kaden Grisham, Dakota Grisham, Maverick Grisham, Dylan Gresham, Joesph Gresham, Cheyanne Gresham as well as her sister, Peggy Butler and brother Howard “Buddy” Cranford.
