He received the Farm Bureau Pioneer Award in 2008.  Additional organizations benefiting from his involvement were Habitat for Humanity, the Red Cross, Retired Teachers Association, Point Enterprise Water Supply Corp., and the Knights of Columbus, where he once served as the Grand Knight.  When time allowed, Edmund also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
