EDGAR LEE BRYANT SR.

Edgar Lee Bryant Sr., formerly of Prairie Hill, passed away Nov.14, 2021, in Groesbeck at the age of 80. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, Nov.17, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Prairie Hill Cemetery. Nathan Bryant, Steven Bryant, Michael McCollum, Buford Whited, Clayton Bryant and Cody Bryant will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Edgar was born June 30, 1941, in Fort Worth to Jarral and Paralee Bryant, one of 16 children. He married Judy M. McDorman on Feb. 21, 1961, in Odessa and they were blessed with 44 years together, prior to her death in 2005. He worked in the Housekeeping Department of the Mexia State School for many years until his health began failing.

Edgar was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather; he dearly loved his family. He was a faithful Christian who loved his Lord and Savior. Edgar also had a faithful companion that he the thought the world of – his cat, Midnight.

In his leisure time, he enjoyed camping at Liberty Hill Park in Dawson and cooking. Edgar’s specialty was fired tators and cinnamon rolls, which was enjoyed by any and everyone who happened to be around at that time.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jarral and Paralee Bryant; son, Edgar Lee Bryant Jr.; and 14 siblings.

Edgar is survived by five sons, Donald Wayne, William Leedale, Timothy Leroy, Myron Eugene and Patrick Bryant; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Morrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
