EARL F. MORRIS

Earl Floyd Morris, 98, of Hubbard, passed away Feb. 6, 2021, at a V.A. care facility in Temple. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at Wade Funeral Chapel in Hubbard with the Rev. David Ayers officiating. Interment with military honors followed in Fairview Cemetery.

Earl was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Westbrook in Mitchell County in West Texas, the youngest of eight children born to Emphry and Nany Mae (Beesley) Morris. He had been a resident of Hubbard for the past 58 years and was a well-known handyman around the area. Earl was a proud veteran, having served in the Army during WWII for over three years and was stationed in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater for over 18 months, including serving in the Philippines and on Okinawa. He was wounded by shrapnel several times during the war and received several medals and commendations including the Philippine Liberation Medal with two Bronze Stars and the Asiatic-Philippine Campaign Medal with two Bronze Stars.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ray Morris, Johnny Morris and Emmitt Morris; and four sisters, Faye McGee, Ila Borders, Lena Morris and Louise Walters.

Survivors include many nieces and nephews including Patsy Robinson of Mexia, Charles Herron of Mesquite, Sharon Helms of Webster, David Walters of Spurger, Ruby Grissom of Spurger, Mary Spangler of Spurger, Brenda Padgett of Spurger, Ray Morris of Houston, Johnny Morris of Houston, Peggy Borders, Gaye Borders, Bill Borders and Jack Borders.

Pallbearers were Brian Schronk, Stephen Schronk, Charles Herron and Herb Helms.
