Dorothy ‘Juanell’ Fisher

Dorothy “Juanell” Fisher passed away July 18, 2018, at her home in Forest Glade at the age of 88. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Shane Norcross officiating. Interment will be in the Faulkenberry Cemetery in Groesbeck. Chris Fisher, Johnny Fisher, Ronnie Fisher, B.J. Ross, Juan Chavez and Michael Bruce will serve as pallbearers. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m.

Juanell was born August 18, 1929, in Groesbeck, Texas, to Rawls and Lucille Hart Cox. She grew up in Groesbeck and graduated from Groesbeck High School, Class of 1947. Juanell married the love of her life, John Henry Fisher, on March 3, 1947, in Fairfield, Texas; they were blessed with two sons, Johnny and Ronnie. In addition to her most important “job,” being a wife and mother, she managed to work 15 years for Sears.

Juanell was a great cook (who never needed a recipe); she was known for making the best banana pudding – everyone loved it! She loved spending time with friends, dancing and traveling in their motor home. However, her favorite hobbies included her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her. Juanell also had a full-time job taking care of her husband. She was truly the best wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who, unselfishly, always put others’ needs before her own.

Juanell was a longtime active member of Forest Glade Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Janie Lynn Haskins.

Juanell is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, John H. Fisher of Mexia; sons, Johnny W. Fisher and wife, Paulette, and Ronnie Fisher and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Valerie Wood, Chris Fisher and Krystal Fisher; and several great-grandchildren.
