DALE CURTIS MCDANIEL
Dale Curtis McDaniel, 65 of Groesbeck, entered into rest on Oct. 25, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in Waco. A celebration of life will be on Nov.7, 2021 at 3 p.m. at Tehuacana Baptist Church with Reverend David Snow and Daniel Garcia officiating.
McDaniel was born November 6, 1955 in Seattle, WA to Elmer and Thelma Hoehne McDaniel. He was graduated from Kalama High School in 1974. After graduation, he earned his Master’s in psychology from Hardin–Simmons University. He retired from the Mexia State Supported Living Center after many years of service. He obtained his Certificate of Ministry from Truett Seminary and was the Pastor of Tehuacana Baptist Church. He was also a proud founding member of Celebrate Recovery, a Christian based recovery program.
McDaniel had a true salt water soul and was always happiest near a body of water. One of his favorite things to do was fish. He loved going fishing with his daughter Sarah at the coast for redfish, flounder and his favorite speckled trout. He loved fishing in his own backyard at Ft. Parker State Park and could be found there almost everyday of the week, every season of the year. He also enjoyed helping every winter with the trout clinic at Ft. Parker.
He loved studying Wu We Gung Fu. One of his other favorite hobbies was dressing up any chance he could. He loved going to Dickens on the Strand and it began a Christmas tradition for over 10 years. He dressed up as a pirate and gave gold coins to children and everyone who wanted a picture with him. He was proud of his Sottish heritage and enjoyed dressing up for Scottish festivals with his kilt and, in recent years, Renaissance Festivals. He also loved to cook and Tehuacana Blue Grass Nights.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Thelma McDaniel. Survivors include his wife, 41, Elizabeth McDaniel of Groesbeck; a daughter, Sarah McDaniel of Houston; a brother, Darrell McDaniel of Longview, WA and nephew, Aaron McDaniel of Kalama, WA.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Tehuacana Baptist Church.
