Chelsia T. Ferguson Taylor

Chelsia T. Ferguson Taylor left her earthly home for heaven on November 14, 2022 peacefully at her home in Personville, Texas with her family by her side.

Chelsia was born to Authur Everett Ferguson and Lola Inez McClaran Ferguson on October 11, 1932. Chelsia married T.J. Taylor and had 2 sons, Terry and Lane.

Growing up in a share-croping family in the Farrar area of Limestone County, Chelsia learned how to work hard and shoulder responsibility. This served her well in her career as a nursing home administrator and later as the owner of Mexia Nursing Home, Teague Nursing Home, McGee Nursing Home, Madisonville Nursing Home and Franklin Nursing Home. Although she was revered as tough, she was fair and was loved by her staff, residents, and residents’ families.

As much as Chelsia enjoyed her professional career, her family was her greatest love. She delighted in being a mother and was proud of her boys. Chelsia’s grandchildren made her even more proud. She attended sports competitions, rodeos, dance recitals and any other events her grandchildren were involved in. And while her grandchildren were special, her great-grandchildren were her jewels. Having the great-grandchildren in her lap was her favorite pastime over the last 20 years. She and great-granddaughter, Kaki, have had an unbreakable bond since Kaki was born. Seeing Kaki lit up Chelsia’s face right up until her death.

Chelsia Taylor was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Lola Ferguson; husband; T.J. Taylor; Granddaughter; Lana Taylor Venable; siblings, A.E. (Hick) Ferguson, R.A. (Buddy) Ferguson, Lola Mae Compton, Jimmy Ferguson, Phil Ray Ferguson and Pat Buyher.

She is survived by her children, Terry (Susan) Taylor, Lane (Kim) Taylor; grandchildren, Nicki (Conrad) Hagen, T.J. (Corrie) Taylor, Kasey (Wade) Ladd; great-grandchildren, Wes and Rhett Hagen, Hays Catalena, Myli and Kaki Ladd; and brother, Cleve Ferguson.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Freestone Medical Center, Reliant Hospice and caregivers, Kathy O’Bryant, Janice Matthews, Theresa Purcell and Yvette Daniels.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Cotton. Visitation with the family will be 5-7 p. m., Wednesday at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the LaSalle Cemetery.
