BULA MAE KERZEE

Bula Mae Kerzee, of Mexia, passed away on Nov. 1, 2021 in Waco, Texas at the age of 87. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment was in the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Brett Beene, Chet Beene, Kent Kendall and Richard Kerzee.

Bula was born March 23, 1934 in Eureka to Herman Lee and Katie Mae (Hager) Farmer. She married Richard Bond Kerzee in 1956, a marriage that lasted 65 wonderful years. They moved to Rapid City, SD, where Richard served his tour of duty with the U.S. Army. Years later, after he retired from Cudd Oil Company, they made their home in Mexia.

Bula was a loving wife and a devoted supporter of Richard in all his working positions and business endeavors. She, also, enjoyed taking care of things at home, gardening, and, especially, doing what she did so well…cook; she was a wonderful cook. Bula was a collector of “All God’s Children” ornaments, as well as an animal lover. She loved her dogs and cats.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Katie Farmer; husband, Richard Kerzee; sisters, Clara Williams, Jonell Toms, Jimmie Ruth Slaughter, Maxine Stringer; and brother, Laught Farmer.

Bula is survived by her sister, Jerri “Red” Jackson of Mexia, sister-in-law, Martha Beene of Mexia; brother-in-law, Maurice Kerzee of Bracketville, TX; numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives.

Bula’s family would like to express their sincere appreciation and thanks to her dedicated caregivers, Mae, Sandra, Patsy, and Cristina.
