Billy McMenamy

Billy McMenamy, 87, of Anson, died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Hendrick Medical Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at First Baptist Church of Anson. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, directed by Adams-Graham Funeral Home.

Born Sept. 12, 1935, in Corpus Christi, Billy was a son of the late Emmett and Alwilda (Smith) McMenamy. He graduated from Texas A&I in Kingsville. He later earned his Master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin State University. Billy served in the United States Marine Corp from 1955 to 1959. He married Judith Miller on Jan. 23, 1959, in Corpus Christi. They made their home in Spring and Grand Junction, Colo., where he retired from Stewart & Stevenson Power. They later moved to Mexia where he worked for the Mexia State School. In 2014, Billy and Judith moved to Anson to be closer to family. They loved attending all of the grandchildren’s activities. Billy was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Judith McMenamy of Anson; two daughters, Suzanne Malmkar (and husband Steve) of Overland Park, Kan., and Janet Hagler (and husband Brooks) of Anson; four grandchildren, Mollie Hagler, Mason Hagler, Max Hagler and Jamie Malmkar; one brother, Gerry McMenamy of Corpus Christi; and a sister, Shirley Bowen of Dallas.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be given to Anson General Hospital, 101 Ave. J, Anson, TX 79501.
