BILLY D. LUMMUS

Funeral Services for Billy D. Lummus, 85, were held on Friday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home in Jewett. Interment followed the services at Lost Prairie Cemetery in Limestone County.

Visitation was at the funeral home on Thursday, April 3, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Billy D. Lummus was born on Aug. 1, 1939, in Conroe, to Allen Lee Lummus and Mary Lorene Henderson Lummus. Billy passed away on April 2, 2025, in Mexia.

He grew up in Leon and Limestone Counties. He worked in Pasadena several years and then returned to Limestone County where he worked several jobs in Mexia, mostly as a mechanic.

Billy met Wanda Lynette in 1972, and they married on July 16, 1973, and had one son, Jeff.

He enjoyed being with family, hunting and fishing, and loved going to the boats and gambling.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lummus; parents, Allen and Lorene Lummus; sister, Bobbie Strother; brothers, Charles Lummus and Kermit Lummus.

He is survived by his son, Jeff Lummus; granddaughter, Samantha Lummus; grandson, Grady Lummus; brother, Danny Lee Lummus of Mexia; niece, Tracy Farris of Mexia; niece, Crala Pringle of Groesbeck; niece, Marilyn Shamblin of Mexia, Sue Strothers of Mexia; Numerous great-nieces and nephews.
