A time capsule buried July 10, 1971, has laid buried next to the Mexia Civic Center, waiting for July 10, 2021, the day it is scheduled to be dug up. That day will arrive this Saturday, when Mexia celebrates its sesquicentennial, or 150th anniversary.

Richard Hillman, Mexia Pump & Motor Shop of Mexia, was presented an award in April for outstanding sales of Exmark Lawnmowers.
Law enforcement officers from all over the state, area residents, and friends and family of Trooper Chad Walker who was killed in the line of duty earlier this year rallied together at the Limestone County Fairgrounds this weekend, raising funds to help prevent similar tragedies.
