Mexia Independent School District’s enrollment is holding at 1,836, of which 293, or 16 percent, are online learners. Of those 293 online learners, 76, or just over 25 percent, are failing two or more subjects – and Superintendent Dr. Lyle DuBus is determined to intervene to change the outcome of those students, even if it means holding them back if nothing changes.

IT’S THE GREAT PUMPKINS

Employees of Parkview Regional Hospital competed in a pumpkin-decorating contest and came up with very creative ideas. The pumpkin at left won third place with a latte theme. “We love our patients a latte,” the sign next to it reads. The entries will be auctioned off, and the proceeds used to buy Christmas presents for employees in December. “We’re trying to bring back some fun,” said Parkview’s Director of Growth and Outreach Brooke Anderson, who created the contest with Marketing Coordinator Haley Brown.
