The MISD campuses hosted a Veterans Day celebration, complete with breakfast in the library and a band-led parade from there into to the gym for a presentation attended and led by the students from all the campuses. Bill Matthews, who served in the Army from 1967 to 1992, and wife, Carol, are joined by the Collins family, including Nic Collins, who retired from the Air Force Special Ops after serving from 2001 to 2011, and his wife, Maria, and children Jessie and Justus. Mexia falls to West in a hard-fought bi-district battle

Over the one year Amanda Howard has worked as kitchen manager and front desk receptionist at Best Western in Mexia she has created personalized experiences for guests. “I’ve tried to incorporate a lot of things to bring more guests here,” Howard said. “I just look at it as, “what would I want to see if I come to a hotel?” she said.
