Congressman tours Mexia police station
Mexia officials are hoping a recent tour of the Mexia Police Department station by U.S. Rep. Pete Sessions will eventually help in their plans to construct a new law enforcement building.

Dear Heloise: It’s time to think about Christmas cards. I don’t send many, but I buy cardsfromUNICEFandmuseum gift shops. The money goes to these organizations to use as they see fit. They all have distinctive gifts like scarves and jewelry, too. Check them out online. Items come in nice gift boxes with the organization’s logos. -- Carolyn McDonough, in Canaan, Connecticut
We just had a delightful Sunday afternoon. My two girls and their families came to spend a few hours with us to celebrate a “Mini Thanksgiving”. And do you know what? It felt like Thanksgiving! Both of them brought a part of the dinner as we made turkey dressing, gravy, yams, and rolls for all to enjoy, both the meal and the coming together as a family. We don’t get to see them very often. They live close to one another while we are two hours away. Each of us have our own busy lives to live, so it was good to come together for an afternoon of family time, laughter, and some turkey. Two of our family members were not able to make it because each had prior engagements or commitments that could not be changed. Maybe next time we can all meet together as one big, happy, family gathering. It’s all a part of what I wrote about last week, “That Family Time of the Year”.
Members of the Mexia Lions Club used the machine they recently purchased to check the vision of 4-yearolds at the Methodist Preschool last week – and the children passed 100 percent.
