Xavier West was well on his way to achieving his goal of placing in the top six and earning a medal at the Texas High School Powerlifing Association Division 3 state meet in Abilene on Friday, March 22.
In a battle for second place in District 20-3A, Groesbeck overcame a two-run deficit with four runs in the sixth inning and held off Mexia in the top of the seventh to eek out a 5-4 win at Groesbeck on Saturday, March 23.
The Wortham softball team split a pair of games last week.
The Mexia boys track team finished second at a meet in Eustace on Friday, March 22.
