Wortham battles Dawson for second place in district

The Wortham football team will host rival Dawson on Friday in a battle for second place in District 102A, Division II. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Both teams enter the final regular-season contest with 4-1 district records. Each has lost only to stateranked Mart, which has clinched the district championship.

Blackcats lose to Malakoff, must wait on playoff scenarios

The Mexia football team could have clinched a playoff berth with a victory at Malakoff on Thursday night. However, the Blackcats fell to the No. 5 team in the state, 55-13. Mexia has a bye next week on the final night of the regular-season. No longer controlling their destiny, whether or not they get into the postseason will be determined by how games play out on the final night of the regular season.

Rebuilding year turns into playoff year for Ladyjacket volleyball

The Coolidge volleyball team will play a bi-district match against Greenville Pioneer Technology & Arts Academy (PTAA) on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The time and venue have yet to be determined.
