Three minutes into the third quarter, it was gutcheck time for the Mexia Ladycats in their basketball game against Elkhart Friday night, Jan. 26.
The Wortham Bulldogs basketball team used its size last week in a 47-34 home victory against Riesel on Jan. 23.
The atmosphere at the Mexia High School gym was electric Tuesday night, and the Mexia Blackcats turned up the juice and left Palestine Westwood in the dark in a battle of state-ranked teams.
Mario Lambarri scored four goals to lead Mexia to an 8-1 victory over Waco Connally at Blackcat Field on Tuesday night.
It took the Mexia Ladycats half a game to get their offense untracked. But their defense was impenetrable throughout the game.
