Lady Cats finish fourth at district track meet
The Mexia Lady Cats finished fourth place overall at the district track meet with 48 points behind Fairfi eld (232), Elkhart (136), and Westwood (110). Mexia beat Teague (45), Groesbeck (25), and Buffalo (20).
Quinique Wisner placed third in the 200m dash with a time of 26.960.
In the 300m hurdles, Hope Fitch grabbed third place with a time of 54.845.
Mackenzie Harris, Jaydee Bell, Fallon Jackson, and Wisner garnered third place in the 4x100m relay with a time of 50.400.
The 4x200m relay team consisting of Harris, Bell, Jacksonn, and Wisner grabbed third place with a time of 1:49.744.
Harris, Fitch, Haylee Fitch, and Mame Ceesay ran the 4x400m relay in 4:43.285 for a sixth place finish.
Ja’Calinn Richardson won the gold in the shot put competition with a distance of 33’ 10¼”. The top four athletes in each event advanced to the Area Track Meet, which was held on Wednesday, April 9, in Fairfield. Competing at the Area Track Meet with District 20 was District 19 consisting of Cameron Yoe, Lexington, Little River Academy, Rockdale, Franklin, Rogers, and Thrall.
