Sherry Jan Manning passed away at her home in Mexia on Aug. 20, 2023, at the age of 73. A Service of Death and Resurrection was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, in the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jaime McGlothlin officiating. Visitation with the family was held prior to the service beginning a 10 a.m.
Frank Dillard Proctor Sr. of Waco, formerly of Mexia, was born June 25, 1944. Frank transitioned into his heavenly home Aug. 11, 2023, at Veterans Hospital in Temple.
Fairy Nell Oakes Lightsey, loving mother and grandmother, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2023, in Mexia at the age of 85. Funeral services were at 10 a.m., Friday, Aug. 11, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment followed at the Point Enterprise Cemetery. Erie Austin Winkler, Daniel Winkler, Juan Silva, Gabriel Valencia, Arthur Hadden, Stephen King, Austin King, and Blake Hadden served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Brent Locke and Charles Little.
Marie Frost, formerly of Wortham, passed away Aug. 5, 2023, in Houston. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at First Baptist Church of Wortham with the Rev. Justin Colquette officiating. Interment followed last Wortham Cemetery.
