Shirley Ann Vinson

Shirley Ann Vinson, of Coolidge, passed away Dec. 6, 2019, in Temple. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 11, at First United Methodist Church in Coolidge, with Pastor Neely Reynolds officiating. Interment will follow in the Coolidge Cemetery. Greg Dowdle, Jony Dowdle, Danny Vinson, Bryan Vinson, Andrew Scott and Blake Taggert will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation with the family was to be 4-6 p.m., Tuesday, at Blair-Stubbs Funeral Home.

Shirley was born Aug. 26, 1935, in Coolidge, to Edgar Poe and Ruth Dohoney Vinson. She was a member of the Coolidge High School Class of 1953. Shirley worked for Southland Life Insurance Company Claims Department in Dallas and Atlanta, Ga., retiring after 36 years of service. She returned to Coolidge in 1992.

Shirley was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Coolidge. She loved her church and was always eager to help with any and all events. She enjoyed quilting at the church and making crafts for both the Lord’s Acre and friends. Shirley was a member of the Coolidge Garden Club, helped in maintaining the cemetery, enjoyed shopping and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. She also loved to cook and have family gatherings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar and Ruth Vinson; and siblings, Billy Vinson, Mary Dowdle, Myron Vinson, Dan Vinson and Kathryn Sawyer.

Shirley is survived by nieces and nephews, Danny and Barbara Vinson, Bryan and Susan Vinson, Greg Dowdle, Jony Dowdle, Kim Vinson, Rochelle Ross and Darwin, Wayne Ann Davis, Sherri Oliver and Analisa Taggert and Ron; brother-inlaw Billy Dowdle; sister-in-law Dorothy Vinson; and numerous great- and great-great nieces and nephews.
