Nicolas was an excellent, conscientious painter and because of his work ethic, he was well respected by everyone. During his lifelong career, he worked as an independent contractor as well as for others. Most recently, Nicolas had been an employee of BWS, a job he truly enjoyed.

Nicolas’ family was his pride and joy, especially, the grandchildren, and “Papa” was everything to them. His children were proud of their dad for trying to raise them to be loving, hard working and respectable young men and women. As adults now, they realize what a wise man he was and can appreciate his good advice.

Nicolas was very outgoing, friendly and loved sharing jokes and laughing with people. Every morning, he loved going by Charlie Allen’s for a cup of coffee, a biscuit and visiting with everyone there. His family describes Nicolas as “A man of many riches with no money to give.” He was a tough man that fought a long hard battle with illness for more than 27 years. Nicolas was loved by many and will be missed by his family and many friends.

Nicolas is survived by his parents, Jesus and Juana Contreras; his wife, Blanca Contreras of Mexia; children, Petra Contreras and husband Alfredo of Teague, Nicholas Contreras Jr. and wife Ashley of Teague, Jose Contreras and wife Chelsea of Buffalo, Itzayana Saucedo and husband Jesse of Mexia, Mirella Contreras of McDade, and Noe Placios and wife Consuelo of Teague; grandchildren, Logan, Sadi, Isabella, Jasmine, Mariela, Alfredo and Valeria Contreras, Analee, Zaylee and Ruben Hernandez and Jesslyn Saucedo; sisters, Rosa Contreras, Paula Araujo and Betty Contreras; brothers, Mauro, Carmelo, Roque, Santiago and Rodrigo Contreras.
